A True Story...

Anxiety Disorders are like an unwelcome guest inside your body. I know, anxiety disorders seem to run in my family.  I have 21 years experience as a psychotherapist.  I had struggled with anxiety problems for years.  Not any more!  More on that in just a moment...

Anyone who knows me knows that I scour the research, always vigilant to find the best treatment strategies for my clients.  My brother, Allen, came to me one day just about a year ago.  He had noticed that I never spoke anymore about my struggle with anxiety.

A Courageous Moment...

He assumed because I was a therapist that I had some secret therapy recipe and asked if I would help him. You see, he had been struggling with several anxiety disorders too. He had kept it to himself until that courageous day when he opened the subject up between us.

I was honored that he trusted me. I know how embarrassing it can be to struggle with this "Silent Giant." The stigma is still quite strong and most are afraid of being judged as weak. And most usually judge themselves much more harshly than anyone else ever would. You know what I mean.

What I Told Him Shocked Him!

I laughed when I told him that a client had healed me.  You should have seen the look on his face.  I'm known as a jokster, so he had this confused look on his face, wondering if I was messing with him.

I told him the story of a client who had multiple anxiety disorders.  She came into my office one day and I could tell something was different.  She was calm.  As we began the session she shared that she was browsing the internet between sessions and had come across an anxiety disorders site which promised immediate relief from her anxiety.  She was a bit sheepish as she shared because she feared I would think her naive.

The Story Unfolds...

I asked her about the technique she'd learned online.  We went over to my laptop and she showed me the website.  She asked if I would review the product and let her knowwhat I thought.  I congratulated her on her progress and we went on with our session.

Later, I took another look at the site.  It was difficult to suspend judgement.  The product was created by a non-professional and the site looked very "Hyped Up" to me.  I told my brother that I did indeed, have reservations about it so I looked up the author and asked if he would consider giving me a free desk copy so I could review it.  He responded promptly, was very nice, and sent me a copy.

Now... It Was My Turn To Be Shocked

I couldnt tear myself away from the e-book.  I read it all the way through to the end.  And then... I tried it.  Please know, it wasn't immediate, but over the course of the next three days I continued to use it and began to strike gold.

I was mostly impressed with his "One Move Technique" but the diamond in the rough was the "Embrace" part of this technique.  And what sealed it for me was the TFT technique.  Interestingly, I was somewhat familiar with the TFT technique but had never thought of its application for anxiety disorders.  Brilliant!

What About Allen?

I shared all this with my brother.  He went home and purchased the program and began to put it to use.  That was over a year ago.  One of his anxiety disorders had to do with anxiety tied to what others thought about him.  These anxiety disorders can really hold a person back.  Since his use of the technique he has been promoted three times and is now in a management position that is truly fulfilling for him.

Jokes On Me!

One day after my brother had recovered from his multiple anxiety disorders, we had a talk.  This time he joked with me and said that at the time we first spoke he was on the verge of seeking his own therapy.  Instead he put the anxiety disorders strategy to work for himself.  He laughed and said, "Do you know this program only cost me $9 dollars more than a single therapy session copay would have cost me?"  You see, not only had he resolved his anxiety disorder, but he saved himself a boatload of money in therapy.
